It is not Honor

 I think we will only get rid of these incidents when we see it for what it is. I say we stop saying honor killing because it is semi-validating to that claim of honor. It is not honor that drives them, it is not their tribal roots that drive them to be such beasts. It is either the wrath of a man who doesn't want to share assets like inherited land by letting the women of their family marry outside the "family", in which case these people are not unaware but unbothered and greedy. Just like many corporate vultures and evil billionaires. If not that, it is the anger of the family that doesn't want to accept that the women of their household have their own brains and heart and can choose because that kind of individuality comes with rights, rights which they do not entertain so their control in domestic dynamics remains intact. So it is either for power or money. There's no honor ever involved.
